Western Horseback Riding Lessons in Golden, CO — Fun, Safe & Confidence-Building for Ages 2+
At Mountain View Equestrian, our philosophy goes beyond teaching people how to ride—we’re here to help riders grow. Located in the foothills of the scenic Golden, Colorado, we provide quality, affordable horseback riding lessons in a supportive and welcoming environment.
We believe horses are incredible teachers. Through riding, students gain confidence, patience, responsibility, and a deeper sense of connection. Our program is rooted in respect—for the horse, for ourselves, and for one another—and we prioritize the safety and well-being of both horse and rider in everything we do.
Whether you’re stepping into the saddle for the first time or continuing your riding journey, we strive to create a down-to-earth space where riders of all ages feel comfortable, encouraged, and inspired to fall in love with the Western lifestyle.

Abigail founded Mountain View Equestrian at 13 with one simple goal: to share her lifelong love of horses with her community in an affordable but quality manner. Now 17, she personally leads every lesson, bringing warmth, patience, and an easygoing energy that makes sure riders of all ages feel comfortable with her right away. Whether you're a complete beginner or have years in the saddle, you'll always feel welcome here. Her students don't just learn to ride — they build confidence, responsibility, a lasting bond with horses, and in depth knowledge about horses and riding all in a friendly, supportive environment.

At Mountain View Equestrian, we believe learning to ride should be fun, hands-on, and heart-driven. That’s why our lessons and events go beyond the saddle—we teach grooming, groundwork, horsemanship, and the day-to-day realities of life with horses.
At Mountain View Equestrian, we are more than just a lesson program — we are a community. We strive to build lasting friendships, positive memories, and meaningful experiences that riders carry with them long after they leave the barn. Our goal is for every rider to feel supported, proud of their progress, and excited to return each lesson to learn, grow, and share in the joy that horses bring to our lives.

We are so grateful to have found Abigail and Mountain View Equestrian! My kids attended summer camp last year and absolutely loved it—it was the perfect blend of fun, community, outdoor adventure, and hands‑on learning with horses. We also hosted my daughter’s birthday party there, and it was truly wonderful. Sweet, memorable, and such a special experience for her and her friends.
Now my daughter has started weekly lessons with Abigail, and it has been amazing to watch her skills and confidence grow. Abigail is an exceptional instructor—she teaches both the technical and intuitive aspects of riding, emphasizes proper horse care, and creates such a positive, encouraging environment. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend Mountain View Equestrian!

Mountain View Equestrian has been such a wonderful experience for our daughter. Over the past year, Abigail has helped her grow tremendously in both her riding skills and confidence. She is patient, encouraging, and a fantastic role model. We especially admire the passion and dedication she brings as a young entrepreneur. The horses are all gentle and wonderful with our daughter, and spending time at the barn truly fills both our buckets with our shared love of horses. My daughter looks forward to every lesson, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the positive impact Abigail has had on her. We highly recommend Mountain View Equestrian to any family looking for a supportive and positive place to learn to ride.

My daughter has been taking lessons with Abigail over the past year, and has grown so much in her skill level and confidence during that time. Abigail is such a patient instructor who takes time to explain things while meeting each rider where they're at and helping them grow. My daughter has also participated in summer camp with Abigail, and loves her experience there so much she recently chose to hold her 12th birthday party at the ranch!

Abigail is an incredible riding instructor and a lovely human being. She is patient, calm, and knowledgeable, and in just a few lessons, we saw significant improvement in our daughter’s riding ability. I cannot recommend her services strongly enough.

To keep things running smoothly and make sure every rider gets their reserved time in the saddle, we just ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel a lesson.

Great news — a little weather won't stop us! We are lucky to have options that keep lessons going rain or shine, so your riding journey stays on track no matter what Mother Nature throws our way!
Here's how we handle the forecast:
Rain — No problem! We simply move lessons to the ground and inside so the fun keeps going without missing a beat!
Heavy Snow — When there's too much snow on the ground, safety comes first and we will cancel lessons for the day!
Thunder & Lightning — When the storms roll in, we call it a day and keep everyone safe — horses included!
We are always willing to work with you and will never put our riders or horses in an unsafe situation. If you're ever unsure about the weather on your lesson day, don't hesitate to reach out and we'll give you the latest update straight from the barn!

Great question — and we love that you asked! When you invest in a riding lesson with us, you're doing so much more than paying for an hour in the saddle. You're becoming a part of something bigger — the daily care, love, and dedication that goes into keeping our horses healthy, happy, and safe for every single rider.
Here's just a glimpse of what goes into caring for our herd every single day:
Daily feeding & fresh water — because happy horses start with full bellies!
Stall & pasture maintenance — keeping their home clean and comfortable
Regular exercise & conditioning — so they're always at their best
Routine vet visits — because their health is our top priority
Farrier services — keeping those hooves in tip-top shape
Facility & tack upkeep — maintaining a safe and welcoming space for every rider
These costs don't take days off — our horses need care 365 days a year, rain or shine, whether lessons are happening or not!
We are deeply committed to keeping our lessons as affordable as possible while never — ever — cutting corners on the health of our horses or the safety of our riders. Our pricing reflects the true cost of doing things the right way, and your lesson fees play a direct role in making that level of love and care possible.
Thank you for trusting us with your family — it truly means the world to us!
